The Carol Lloyd Award Returns for 2020
The legacy of Queensland's pioneering womxn of rock continues with the 2020 Carol Lloyd Award. Proudly presented by QMusic, the search is on for the state's next emerging femxle-identifying musician to kickstart their career.
The Carol Lloyd Award is a $15,000 grant presented to an emerging femxle-identifying or non-binary singer-songwriter to either record a full-length album or record and tour an EP.
The Carol Lloyd Award gives recipients a head start in their career, the means to broaden their experience within the music industry, and helps them to craft their own narrative as an emerging artist. Previous recipients include Sahara Beck, Leanne Tennant and Moreton.
Carol Lloyd, who passed away in 2017, was a legendary rock chic from Queensland who started her career in the 70s band Railroad Gin. Carol’s wife, Annie Haydon is part of the team bestowing this award to a Queensland musician.
