Twice a day this place explodes!

Queensland Music Festival returns to Mount Isa for an explosive outdoor theatrical spectacular! Created for, by and with the Mount Isa community, The Mount Isa Blast celebrates the people, the place and the pulse of a resilient, diverse and proud regional city.

Expect stellar performances from our cast of hundreds of locals, including the supremely talented William Barton and Megan Sarmardin with BullDust and Mount Isa Community Ensembles Inc (MICE). This spectacle will draw upon Queensland Music Festival’s rich history of musical endeavours in Mount Isa, including the unforgettable Bob Cat Dancing (2003), Bob Cat Magic (2005), Swingin’ Utes (2013) and Mount Isa Celebrates (2015). The magical blast also unearths new talent and songs, as Mount Isa looks to the future.

Featuring bob cats, motocycles, livestock, choirs and a symphony orchestra, The Mount Isa Blast will bring the community together to celebrate the past, present and future of Mount Isa, united in song.

Best of Brass and Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University are delighted to be collaborating with QMF for The Mount Isa Blast performances.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Department of Communications and the Arts’ Festivals Australia program.
